Ensign Boutin's Commissioning
I've had the pleasure of photographing the Boutin family for many years. Family sessions, and my favorite was capturing Jeff reunite with his family getting off his last deployment. Recently Jeff was commissioned in the Navy and I had the privilege of capturing the ceremony. I'm truly honored not only to call the Boutin's clients, but friends as well. I'm so thankful for their service and sacrifice; they are one of the nicest family's you'll ever meet. The ceremony was intimate and sweet. Jeff's words to his wife and family brought tears to my eyes. Hearing how many years he's been deployed, away from his family was touching. I can't imagine how hard that must be on a family. Seeing how many of his fellow military friends were there to support him was moving. After the ceremony they formed a huge line, to wish him well and shake his hand. You can really tell these people are his second family. Most touching of all was Jeff's dad. Retired Navy himself; he had the honor of commissioning Jeff. He read a beautiful speech, gave him his first salute and was beaming with pride. You could literally feel how proud his dad was. He even lost weight so that he could fit into his old uniform for the occasion. His daughter was always hugging him & smiling; enjoying her role in the day. I'm sad to see this family move out of San Diego, but I know they will brighten any place they land. I can't say thank you enough for your service and thank you for allowing me to be a part of this amazing day. Here's a few of my favorite shots from the day.
